How to Earn your DREI

DREI CANDIDACY DREI INSTRUCTOR ASSESSMENT

APPLICATION

EXAMINATION

Candidates must complete an application wherein at least 125 credits will be accumulated in four (4) areas: Candidates must SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE a 120 multiple choice question examination.
1.  PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Credits required:  3 Min - 20 Max         (1 credit given for each year of exper- ience in an industry related field)

2.  EDUCATION

Credits required:  25 Min - no Max        (Credits given for formal education, continuing education designations, and continuing education programs completed within the last five years.  1 credit given for each 10 hours of class- room participation as a student)

3.  TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Credits required:  25 Min - no Max        (1 credit given for each 10 hours of classroom participation as an instructor within the last 5 years)

4.  SERVICE TO THE INDUSTRY

Credits required:  20 Maximum             (Credits may be given for special accomplishments, such as presentations made, articles or texts authored, offices held, awards won and other contributions)

  NOTE:  Official transcripts and copies of certificates are required verification.

Exam Breakdown - Ownership - 34; Brokerage - 8; Contracts - 8; Landlord Tennant - 4; Closings - 2; Finance - 14; Tax/Investment - 14; Valuation/ Appraisal - 16; and 20 questions on instructional techniques.

Passing Score - min 92 of 120 correct

Exam Preview - ASI testing service for- mat, scope and difficulty equivalent to a real estate broker licensing examination.

Suggested Exam Preparation -           

 1.  Special Cram Session is offered at     each REEA Conference 

 2.  Self Study using any number of real estate texts and exam prep guides

 3.  Review of REEA's Generally Accepted Principles of Education (GAPE)

 4.  Text - "How to Teach Real Estate to Adults" - published by REEA

Scheduling the Exam -

  An exam reservation FORM is included within the DREI application packet.

  The date, time and location of any examination is individually scheduled.

POINTS TO CONSIDER.....

1.  The DREI Application Packet can be obtained by contacting REEA

2.  The application form requires a great deal of information.  Failure to complete it properly and to attach the required documentation and fees frequently delays processing.

3.  Those who have met all the DREI criteria will be notified in writing and immediately eligible to use the designation.  Formal awarding of the DREI is completed at the annual REEA conference.

4.  The five (5) copies of the demonstration videotapes submitted for review WILL NOT BE RETURNED to the candidate.  Candidates are advised to make a copy for themselves, if desired.

5.  A DREI Mentor Committee has been established to assist and counsel any candidate requiring assistance in any phase of the process.
